my brother is allergic to dogs, but i want one SO badly. would it be OK to have an outdoor dog?

becuase of my brothers alergies i would never be able to have an indoor dog, would it be okay to have an outdoor dog? im homeschooled so i would have plenty of time to play with it/ take it for walks…ect. Also, if i were to get an outdoor dog what kind of fence would would be good for it? invisible electric fence, or a wood/ medal fence?

It honestly depends on the severity of ur brothers allergies. If its severe, then I sadly have to say that its best not to get a dog, even if its an outdoor dog – or possibly get a hairless dog. U do get hairless dog breeds – ugly, but who cares.
If the allergies are not too severe, then its best to get a short haired dog. Make sure u wash the dog once a week to get rid of loose hair so the hair doesnt stray and effect ur brother.

The Chinese crested dog is a hairlessbreed with one wierd hairstyle – very good family pets.

Make sure u get some strong, tall fencing (Wood or metal). Electric fencing works well, but I prefer to not use it as the only fence. I will put it above a proper fence to avoid showjumpers, but not as the only fence. Puppies and electified fencing are a big no no.

Naturally, it takes a lot of work and planning prior to starting a construction of almost any kind while the family intends to live in the house during the process.

 

Most of us in the full service remodeling business conduct an on site pre-construction meeting. As you might expect, we ask an awful lot of questions about a lot things that will have an affect on the family or everyday living conditions throughout the duration of the project. We do so, for the sake of creating the best possible outcome for all concerned, of course.

 

The questions we ask are based upon experiences we have had or in some cases are based upon; experiences we would rather not repeat.

 

I am confident most of us could tell a good story about the indoor cat that got let out by mistake, and the crew that spent half the day looking for and trying to retrieve it, before the pet’s owner came home, or the boss showed up.  Not to be outdone by the dog that was fed human food, by a well intentioned worker or sub contractor, only to be scolded later by pet’s owner because the dog has a strict diet or an allergy to certain types of food. Then there’s the those literally invisible fences that got dug up by mistake and the dog that got away, as result…and boy are they hard to catch! I’ve been told…most of these stories are funny now, because all ended well.

 

I like to say that while we view ourselves as guests in our client’s homes, I also like to say that successful remodeling projects are a result of a team effort between the contractor(s) and the family members old enough to be responsible and helpful; especially where the pet’s are concerned.

 

So, remember to make sure to ask or inform us or your contractor, about your expectations and the needs of your pet(s) before the work begins, they will appreciate it…and we won’t have any stories to tell a few years for now…
