Anyone compared “Invisible Fence” and “Dogwatch”? Each says it has superior technology. Anyone have advice?
Looking for a comparison overall, including performance, cost (in terms of battery cost, battery life, etc). Anyone with a tech background looked at these who can interpret the tech speak? thanks!
We used to use a invisible fence with our old jack russle terrier, and it worked for the most part, except when it saw a squirrle, it would bolt right threw it. I have never heard of a dogwatch.

INVISIBLE FENCE BATTERY
Forget messy wires underground or eyesore wires strewn over rocks and bushes. “No, Toto, this is not Kansas” but it is the new Wizard of Oz in terms of high tech simple-to-install radio fence pet containment systems.
Plug-And-Play Simple Installation. The latest breed of radio fence pet containment systems may not be an FDR “fireside chat” radio broadcast to teach a nation, but the radio dog fence does quickly train, and then re-enforce the idea of home and boundaries for your furry family member. The radio pet fencing system boils down to three (3) components:-
* Component 1 – Plug-in Transmitter. A standard grounded 3-pin transmitter unit is the Mother load “controller” unit that defines the signal type…..signal strength and the overall spherical shaped “invisible dog fencing” area. Depending on the size of your property, or the areas that you’ve ear-marked for your dog, the radio dog fence transmitter unit can produce a 30 ft. to 150+ ft. diameter “play” area.
* Component 2 – Collar “Receiver”. Toto, Daisy, Jak or Lassie get to wear a lightweight, weather proof, battery energized radio dog fence receiver collar unit. After a short training phase where you and your dog walk the new wireless do fence “boundary zone”, marked by tiny flags as a visual “prompt”, your dog will rapidly “get it”. The radio pet fence receiver adapts to your needs, and to Toto’s training, with up to 6 varying strength settings. Training is all about “wee little beeps” produced by the receiver unit, which Toto hears. As she approaches the “boundary-do not pass” zone, the beeps increase until around the 6 ft.-from-boundary mark, she’ll receive a tiny corrective electrical shock. The corrective shock doesn’t hurt, nor cause any pain or bodily harm, rather acts more to startle and remind Toto where the boundary is.
* Component 3 – Your Doggie. Where would a radio fence pet containment system be without dogs and owners? Simple as the training sounds, radio dog fence set ups are not the same for every breed of dog. Motley mixed breeds and many designer breeds respond quickly to their newly defined wireless pet fence world. However…and this is a big “yes, but” proviso…the bloodhounds and beagles may be genetically over-enhanced in terms of nose-and-smell. Result? Once a beagle “gets a whiff”, he’s off and may simply crash through the radio dog fence “shock zone”…leaving behind a sharp yelp, but continuing on his mad dash scent-chasing run. As cool and performance-oriented as the latest generation of wireless dog fencing systems have become, the sheer size of the collar, and the strength of the corrective “shock” is not right for dogs under 10 lbs. body weight.
